3 Testimonials for “John Grindle”

  1. Ed (USA) says:

He was a most genial host, and when he next comes to the States, he has a place to stay. He even brought along a lunch for two, with sandwiches, hot coffee(!!), potato chips (crisps), cake and fruit. We spent a lot of time just walking the river, looking for rising fish, and taking turns casting to them.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable day. I am hard put to describe how welcome both John made me feel. I would go back in a minute, hopefully after improving my casting an order of magnitude or two.

  2. GA says:

Thank you very much for yesterday, the breakfast was excellent as usual and I had a good chance of a very good fish!
I am sure that if you don’t get sick of me first, that I will get that elusive 3lb+ grayling eventually.
My trips to the Frome are one of the highlights of my angling year.
I look forward to having another crack at catching that English 3 pounder in the new year, perhaps 2010 will be the year!

  3. Ben says:

A big thank you to John Grindle for a lovely afternoon on Chesil Beach. I have always wanted to catch a cod from this famous beach and today it happened! I have caught bass before but it was cod I really wanted. A few aborted trips due to bad weather were soon forgotten as we settled into a likely spot chosen by John.

Big baits were the order of the day so we lashed some squid and lugworm onto pennel rigs. My biggest mistake was trying to cast too far. John made me drop a bait in close where he suspected the fish would be patrolling. Sure enough he was right! It just goes to show that local advice is so often the key to success. Practical tackle and bait tips from John all lead to a fruitful session.

All in all a very enjoyable afternoon and I’m over the moon with my first Chesil cod. Know anywhere that teaches filleting?!
